Memories... (I don't know the rest of the lyrics)

This is the time during the whole show produciton thing that I spend a lot of moments by myself in the FAB. Last night I was up to my arm pits in glue and floating from the thick haze of spray paint in the air when I asked my self again, "Why do we do this?" It's Friday- everyone else is playing or relaxing and I am having an experience that most societies would label as illegal. Granted, the spray paint was strong, but not as strong as Rachel and permanent markers curled in the floor depressed strong- just a little dizzy strong. What is so funny is as I am asking myself "why" I am also obssessed with the perfect combination of glue and gauze mixture. Nikki was out of town and when I spoke to her last night we laughed because even though I was dead tired and my feet had not stopped all day or I had not had food that wasn't fried and handed out a window, that I completely and totally cannot sit still or relax. The entire time I was painting I would think, "Ok, one more color and then I'm going home." Eleven colors later- I'm still there and getting ready to heat up the glue gun! Madness I tell you, madness. And yet while I amworking on all this "stuff" I am listening to the cd of the next show making my plans. Madness I tell you, madness! As if there is not enough going on in my life at the moment- less than two months till a wedding! And so, I finally went home... but then I came back and became even more obssessed with this crazy pumpkin on wheels. I took a break and got me a sandwich- this time not fried, but yes handed out a window. As I ate I sat in the whole known as my office, or as Rachel describes it, my salute to me- who else has a lifesize cutout of themselves? Plenty, I'm sure. As I ate I surfed the web and read over some of Camila's blog entries over the past year. She does a great job of keeping the show stuff up to date- especially pictures and video. As I was laughing an reading I came upon Footloose from last spring. Wow! Was that a fun show. Yes it was a lot of work and yes I got mono from it (probably), but it was a lot of fun. There was a great group of kids in that show, very disciplined in their performances and dedicated to making it the best. It was a spectacular show with a great message about needing one another, not just dictating (no comments, Rachel). Cinderella is also going to be a spectacualr show- just in a different way. Comparing Cinderella to Footloose is like comparing a tree to a tulip- they're both vegitation, but that's it. Footloose had energy and spunk, while Cinderella is going to have the atributes of a true musical comedy with all the flash and pazzaz. While I'm working I also find pieces of wood with paint on them and I can recognize the show it came from. I find trim from costumes and know who wore it at another time. It is a huge amount of work- most people have no clue, and why should they. If we do our job as presenters, it should look effortless. I am always exciting to start a new show. I am also always excited to end a show- it is like getting to drink a big glass of water at the end of a marathon... I guess. Yea, I'm tired, but I'm also looking forward to see how things shape up over the next two weeks (eeek! only two weeks). All of the gang that was in Footloose- miss ya! All the gang in Cinderella- can't wait to see you shine. All the people out there in the dark waiting for the lights to come up (that's so Norma Desmond)- have fun! Oh wait, that's me- I keep forgetting I'm not in this show. A five second cameo at the end doesn't count (see Rachel, I don't always cast myself.)

Cinderella... It's a Process

It's possible (trust me) for a plain blob of foam to become a golden carriage... or in our case purple.

A staircase getting ready for a shoe made of glass... or in our case clear plastic.

So Many Things at Once!

So, I've been posting a bunch of silly stuff lately- and why not, I like to laugh a bit- but to update on other things, Nikki and I finally have a place to live! We found the perfect little apartment- nice, clean, surrounded by old people that like to watch every move you make. We feel safe- talk about neighborhood watch! Once we signed the lease we realized we needed to get a few things or sit on the floor. After several trips to cities nearby we also have a couch, chair, dining set, a bed, curtains, lamps and as of last night a matress that will be like sleeping on marshmellow cream! We also have a honeymoon plan- top secret! Show is coming along (more on that later), life is coming along, and wedding plans are coming along. Life is great fun right now, even when I'm stressed.

The Valentine Ball

Ric waits anxiously for his date.
Finally she arrives and is overjoyed with the token of admiration he brought her.

They share a nice lunch together.

Troy, on the other hand got rejected a few times.

Ah, but alas- Jennifer, ever the softy, takes him to be her dance partner.

Get down was the word of the day.

A good time was had by all at the V-Day ball.

Happy Valentine's Day!
